Please note: We have received many inquiries from individuals asking whether or not our podium can be used as a stand for either a laptop computer, video projector, or other such expensive electronic equipment. We do not recommend our podium be used for this purpose. Although we have sold this unit to teachers who are successfully using it to hold textbooks weighing as much as five pounds (far more than the weight of some of the current lightweight laptops) we advise our customers to purchase a professional A/V device designed especially for the purpose of holding expensive electronic equipment if that is your intention. Such stands are usually around $150 and are considerably heavier than our unit and are specially designed for the purpose of holding laptops and expensive projectors only. This is a podium/lectern. It is designed only for books, notes, and papers and not for the purpose of supporting expensive electronic devices. Please take note of this fact and avoid potential catastrophic damage to your expensive electronics by purchasing the correct type of stand which is specifically designed for such use.
